9500-16i Solid HBA. The SAS3816 chip handles 16 drives easily. PCIe 4.0 x8 gives you plenty of bandwidth. Only gripe is the passive heatsink gets toasty in low-airflow chassis. Works out of the box with Linux. Would buy again. 5

9500-16i SAS3816 chip is no joke. 16 internal ports, full 12Gb/s per lane, and PCIe 4.0 x8 keeps it from bottlenecking. Running this with a bunch of NVMe drives and it shreds. Broadcom knows what they're doing. 5
